Maths Tessellations

I drawn the shape into paint, the shape that  was  a triangle. The triangle was transformed by being rotated and moved, the triangle was reflected by being copied into lots of shapes and it was translated by making the triangles into a shape of a hexagon.

We Are Learning How To design and create tessellations to explore and transformations.

I designed and created the tessellating pattern by:

• Drawing a triangle and draw a line in the middle of the triangle.
• Copying and pasting the triangle into 4 triangles
• Rotating each triangle to different degrees.
• Placing one triangle at the top facing down and one triangle at the bottom facing up.
• Placing the two triangles that was left and placed it at each side and made the 4 triangles like a cross
• Adding 4 little triangles at the edge of each big triangle and draw scribbles in the middle of each little triangle.
• Coloring the patterns into any color.
• Making the shape (hexagon) that I made smaller and copying it.
• Pasting the hexagon tessellate and made into a bunch of patterns.

Azonto Crew

This Movie that I mostly recommend is 'Azonto"  by Tamaki College

'Azonto' is a movie that features kids running around the city dancin  with lots of amazing talents. This movie plays a song called 'Azonto', it was very catchy and it got me hooked as a fish! All of them were wearing white masks, black pants and black shirt. This movie encourages people to dance and entertain  viewers.These kids can enter a dance competition!I can't wait to watch Tamaki College next movie. 

A Nightmare

Jack is a teenager that lived in a town called Westches, while he was walking down the street he saw a house that has been surrounded by the police. “What’s going on Sir?” He asked “A person committed a murder in this house, we’re checking the place for some clues’.Jack suddenly had goosebumps everywhere, the house owner was his childhood friend ‘Jill”!

He ran as fast as he could to reach his house and tell his parents the horrible news,he opened the door and saw a person with orange hair, white painted skin and the longest hat he had ever seen.The strange person was holding a cup of tea with a huge smile on his face, ‘who are you?”Jack asked but there was silence. Suddenly Jack recognised the mysterious person “Freddy!”He ran out his house and saw him standing on the lawn.

Everywhere he went he was there!Jack didn't know what to do he was confused as a sloth, he ran as fast as the wind.Jack was thinking why a murderer was chasing him, then a bell went on! “Freddy just got out of jail, he was a nice man but he was framed of a murder.But I still don’t get it why he’s trying to kill me.” Jack wondered, after 5 minutes of running he met the end of the road. His heart and soul was pounding as a bomb he turned around and saw Freddy right in his face, “You destroyed my life!” Freddy shouted. “What did I do to you” Jack asked, “Don’t you remember, you told your parents that I murdered Principal Gretel and they told the police. Now I’m going to kill you and the other people that told on the police!’Freddy shouted in anger!

Freddy’s knife was about to meet Jack’s chest, suddenly a light appeared at the back of them. It looked like a shining mirror or a huge flashlight then Freddy turned around , a silver truck with humongous lights were heading it’s way, it looked like it’s brakes were broken but there was no driver in the truck, it was going to hit them!

A few more milliseconds they will be dead or paralyzed but Jack found himself at his room with no truck, no Knives and especially no Freddy. ‘Was it all a dream or did it all happen”.

Swimming is Essential

Have you imagined innocent kids drowning in that big piece of water? That’s why kids in New Zealand need to learn how to swim.

The most special thing that can help us how to swim is a pool,a pool can help us how to be confident in the water. Swimming Pools can help New Zealand kids know what to do if there was a real wave heading our way, kids can be taught where and when to swim. A pool is similar to an ocean but only shallow, so New Zealand kids can be cured of drowning if the New Zealand Government change their mind and let each school have a turn with a swimming pool.
A swimming instructor can change a child’s life too, a swimming instructor encourages kids to learn how to swim in different and helpful styles. There’s lots of swimming styles that helps us how to save ourselves from the unpredictable waves that can kill us in a second but the problem is that we don’t know all the swimming styles needed, that’s why we need a swimming pool and a swimming instructor.

Aquila

The constellation Aquila is located at the southern hemisphere near the constellations Sagitta,
Hercules, Sagittarius and Aquarius, the constellation Aquila is best seen at summer and located at the Milky Way. Aquila was one of the 48 constellations described by the 2nd century astronomer Ptolemy, Ptolemy was a Greek astronomer, mathematician, astrologer and geographer he described Aquila as a Greek Eagle because of the shape . The International Union found the constellation aquila in 1922, They found 8 stars making the constellation, Aquila.

Greek Mythology

In Greek Mythology it is believed that Aquila was identified as Aetos Dios, the eagle that carried the thunderbolts of Zeus. The Eagle was sent by Zeus to kidnap the shepherd boy Ganymede to serve as cup bearer of the Gods, Ganymede in Greek Mythology is a Divine Hero homeland was Troy,also known as Aquarius. Aquila is also known as the Vultur Volans (the flying vulture) to the Romans.

Last Day Of Sewing

I entered the room with a keen face, my adrenalin rose through my body when I faced the sewing machine. Ms.Scott (A professional, experienced and an Edgewater College Home Economics teacher) gave each of us a piece of rectangular fabric called felt to make our homemade money purse or coin wallet. I got a purple colored piece of fabric to make my coin wallet I was excited as a student heading away on his holidays. After she gave us our felt she told us to turn on our sewing machine (Also known as “Bernina”) and greet it in a friendly way . I got the things needed to make my money purse like scissors, black bobbin, metal bobbin case and a grey colored thread. All I needed to do was to get my sewing machine ready. The hardest and most challenging part was to make my money purse.When I got my grey thread, black bobbin and presser foot ready. I turned the sewing machine on and started to do decorative stitches on my coin wallet to put styles on it. I decided to design my wallet by making triangle shapes around it. After 20 minutes I was tired and exhausted, like a person who had just finished a long plane flight, but I still managed to do my functional stitching to close my money purse I was proud and happy at the same time I can’t wait till I visit Edgewater College again.

Spider Man 4

We are learning how to engage our audience to read more of our stories

When I woke up from an afternoon nap I knew it was going to be a night full of graphics and excitement. My adrenalin was pumping when I got in the car, I couldn’t wait to get to the movies and watch spider man 3D. When I saw the sign Hoyts my lips were starting to have a big smile as we got closer. We got off the car and headed for the movies to get our snacks and tickets, we bought some refreshing drinks, tasty popcorn and frozen ice cream.

The movie was at 8:00pm so we sat at the waiting area and waited until we can watch the movie, 5 minutes later we entered the cinema and sat down to watch an amazing action movie. We were moving side to side and shouting “Whoa’! But my mum had different reactions, while we were enjoying the 3D movie my mum was crying through the sad parts. The movie was mixed with action, comedy and a little bit of drama, the audience including us all enjoyed the movie.

I had a great time at the movies, it was exciting, nerve racking and fun. I can’t wait until the next Spiderman movie comes out at the movies.

The Olympic Flag

The Olympic Flag

The Olympic flag is well known with a white background that stands for peace, and 5 interlocking rings.

The 5 interlocking rings on the Olympic flag each has different colors blue, yellow, black, green and red. These colors were chosen by the 2nd founder of the International Olympics Committee Baron Pierre de Coubertin, he was inspired from a Greek Artefact and got  the ideas to design the Olympic rings. Each ring represents a continent the blue ring stands for Europe, the yellow ring stands for Asia, the black ring stands for Africa, the green ring is for Oceania and the red ring stands for America. Usually there are 7 continents but North America and South America were counted as 1 continent and called America, Antarctica is another continent but Antarctica has no representatives from the continent

The flag with a white background and 5 rings is the flag that represent the countries that come together to be united as one.

My name is Reitz I’m a year 7 at St. Patrick’s School. I was born in the Philippines and I came to a wonderful and peaceful country called New Zealand when I was 8 years old.There are 6 people in my family including my caring parents, my funny brothers and me. My hobbies are playing sports like basketball, soccer and baseball. My inspirations to play sports are , Chris Paul (A Professional Basketball Player) and Cristiano Ronaldo (A Professional Soccer Player). My favorite band is Simple Plan and my favourite singer is Chris Brown they both sing hip hop and R and B songs. I like to eat steak with mashed potatoes and a side of Coca Cola. The things that I dislike are rats, tofu and brussel sprouts.
